Because the MBTA constructs a brand new drawbridge over the Annisquam River, Gloucester Harbormaster T.J. Ciarametaro has introduced that the bridge channel will shut for a couple of month.
The closure will begin at 7 a.m. Feb. 18 and run by way of 7 p.m. March 26. The channel might be closed to all vessel site visitors 24 hours a day to accommodate a 60- by 100-foot work barge and related drilling tools.
“The complete channel closure is required to accommodate the drilling and set up of two bridge pier helps and related bridge fendering system,” the Gloucester Harbormaster’s Fb web page learn on Thursday.
The barge and tools won’t be moved from the channel outdoors of working hours.
Vessel operators can attain the harbormaster on VHF CH 16/13.
